Buried In The Wrong Suit home     Stories Index

Hi Kim,
I am related only through a second marriage but thought you would
enjoy a little story my grandmother told me.
My great grandmother Willie Mae White Hodnett married
James Andrew Jackson Moncus about 1938. It was his second
marriage and her third, they had no children together.
Anyway, when he died in 1966 one of his sons had a suit hanging
in the same room as the suit they had picked out to bury grandpa in.
The wrong suit was taken to the funeral home and grandpa was
buried in a suit WAY too big for him, and the son was left to wear
a suit about 6 inches too short ! It was too late to buy another suit
and so the son had to wear grandpa's suit , and everyone still
laughs about that.
Grandmother can't remember which of the sons it was....
